Something Very Special was born from the idea that self-expression can change how we feel, move through the world, and connect with others. Long before we were making clothes, we were building a creative community.

In 2009, founder Ainsley Hutchence launched Sticks & Stones Agency an independent online publication celebrating artists, musicians, photographers, designers, and free thinkers. For over a decade, it championed creativity, individuality, diversity, and self-expression in all its forms. That same spirit became the foundation of Something Very Special. 

Founded in December 2021, Something Very Special brings that philosophy into the physical world through clothing. Fashion should be more than something you wear, it should be an extension of who you are. Inspired by the power of dopamine dressing, we create pieces that spark confidence, joy, curiosity, and connection, helping you wear your spirit on the outside.

Inspired by Australia’s blend of beach culture, city living, art, music, and community, our collections are comfortable, expressive, and playful. Each collection tells its own story while staying true to the belief that fashion should feel as good as it looks. 

Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. We love working with artists, creatives, and community members who bring fresh perspectives and meaning to our collections.

Since launching our first collection, Be Less Shit Please, we’ve been fortunate to build a wonderful community of people who invite us into their lives, wardrobes, and everyday moments.

To us, clothing is armour for self-expression. It’s a reminder to take up space, have fun, be yourself, and live life your own way. We create very special pieces for very special people. Thank you for being here. To us you are so very Special.
